About the event

Date: September 26th, 2024 Time: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM Location: Mat-Su Senior Center, 1132 S Chugach St, Palmer, Alaska

The Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC), in collaboration with Community Justice Workers, is offering a no-cost clinic to help seniors aged 60 and older draft wills and receive estate planning support. This event is an excellent opportunity to secure your future and ensure your family's peace of mind.

What is a Will and Why is it Important? A will is a legal document that outlines how your assets and belongings will be distributed after your passing. It is essential to have a will prepared in advance to ensure your wishes are respected, prevent potential disputes, and provide clear guidance for your loved ones during a challenging time.

What is Estate Planning and Why is it Crucial? Estate planning involves making decisions now about how your assets will be managed and distributed, who will care for your minor children or dependents, and how your healthcare and financial affairs will be handled if you're unable to do so yourself. Proper estate planning can alleviate stress for your family, provide financial security, and ensure your end-of-life wishes are honored.

Why Should Your Family Know Your End-of-Life Wishes? By clearly communicating your wishes, you allow your family to support you according to your values and preferences. This foresight not only provides you with peace of mind but also offers your loved ones support and clarity during difficult times, helping them navigate their responsibilities with confidence and care.

How to Participate To ensure timely service, please complete a Will Questionnaire in advance. The ALSC will review and finalize your will during your appointment.

Appointments can be made by calling the ALSC's Palmer Office at 907-746-4636 or toll-free at 1-855-996-4636.

Walk-ins are also welcome to receive advice on wills and estate planning, and to begin the drafting process.
